Moroccan police have arrested both the owner and the manager of a mattress factory for a fire that killed at least 55 people. The fire broke out on Saturday on the ground floor of the factory in the city of Casablanca. The cause is unclear, but some suspect it was caused by a cigarette butt which was thrown onto flammable.
Investigations are being held to find the person responsible for the accident. However, in my opinion I think this is a really sensitive case. In the case where 55 people are killed because of an accident or human error, where does the blame go? Does it get put on the factory owners for allowing cigarettes in their facilities? Does it get put on the individual who I'm sure is accompanied by plenty others who were smoking as well, being that Morocco has a huge smoking population. The answers are unclear and the government just seems to be looking for any excuse to throw the blame on someone, but being responsible for the death of 55 individuals is devastating, especially in the case where it was unintentional.
